5 Types Of Love To Celebrate On Valentine's Day

Posted on February 08 2019

Although it’s not a public holiday in any country, Valentine’s Day is recognized as a significant, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and romantic love. But who’s to say that Valentine’s Day should only be about romantic love? Why not celebrate all types of love in your life? Here are 10 things we love about love.

1. Your boyfriend, girlfriend, partner, or significant other

Obviously this only applies to some of us, but if you’re in a relationship, this is the day to celebrate the love you have for each other. Maybe you have a romantic dinner planned for the evening. Or maybe you’re staying in and binge-watching your favorite Netflix show. So if you’re in a relationship, take the time to do something nice for your partner. Show them how much you love them.

2. Your pets

If you have pets, you know that you have a special bond that can’t be explained to anyone. Your pet is your best friend. They’re sensitive to your needs and know when you need comfort. They love you unconditionally. When you come home from a long day at work, they greet you as if you’re The Beatles. Pets have a special place in our hearts that no significant other can occupy. Let your pets know how much you love them today.

3. Your siblings

They may get on your nerves sometimes and you won’t always see eye to eye, but for most of us, our siblings know us better than anyone else. Siblings look out for you and always keep your best interests at heart. At the end of the day, they’re family. You will always have that sibling bond, no matter how much they annoy you.

4. Your parents

Let’s be honest, your parents are the very reason you’re here, so why not take some time out of the day to call them up or pay them a visit. As we get older, we are consumed with work and living our own lives that it’s sometimes easy to forget to make some time for family. It’s important to spend the time with them while you still can. Plan a nice dinner for them. Take them to a movie they’ve been wanting to see. Make the day about them and do the things they love to do.

5. Your friends

Who says you have to be in a relationship to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Get your group of friends together and have a nice night out. Your friends are the ones who are there for you when your relationships go south. They give you life advice. They help keep you grounded. Celebrate the love you have for your friend and your appreciation for everything they do for you.

Thank you for this post! This is how I was brought up to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and I wish more people felt this way. Because of this mindset, I never felt “left out” of participating in Valentine’s Day or felt the need to have an anti-Valentine’s Day or “Galentine’s” alternative celebration because we celebrated LOVE, in all its forms. Happy Valentine’s Day to all! <3
