How To Have Less Stressful Mornings

Posted on November 07 2018

You’ve probably been there before. You hear your alarm go off in the morning and your first instinct is to hit the snooze button. Just five more minutes. Speaking of which, you’ve also had those days where you’re frantically running out the door because you overslept. So where’s the happy medium? Here are some tips to make your mornings less stressful.

Pick Your Outfit Before Bed

It may sound ridiculous, but this can actually save you a lot of time in the morning. Sometimes finding the perfect outfit can be a struggle. I’m sure many of us have had those mornings where we’ve gone through ten different outfits before we’ve found the one. Save the outfit experimentation for the night before. Sometimes things don’t turn out the way you want them to. Maybe you thought that outfit was going to look great but after trying it on, it looks nothing like you had imagined. Have a go-to style that’s comfortable and always have a backup outfit. It may seem like a small change, but it can make all the difference in the morning.

Prep Your Meals

Whether it’s just for the day or for the entire week, preparing your meals ahead of time can also make your mornings less stressful. Not only does this help save time, it also helps you save money. Buying your lunch every single day starts to add up after a while. Spend a little extra time over the weekend and plan a menu. Figure out what ingredients you’ll need and make a trip to your local grocery store. It’s okay to treat yourself every once in a while, but try preparing your meals to save you that extra time in the mornings during your work week.

Practice Deep Breathing

Not only does this help relieve stress and reduce anxiety, it also helps put you in a clear head space. As soon as your alarm goes off in the morning, take a few minutes and do some deep breathing. Allow the oxygen to enter your body and naturally wake you up. Don’t start off your mornings in a chaotic rush, trying to get ready and out the door as fast as possible. Take the time to meditate and mentally prepare yourself for the day ahead.
