Prudence & the Prune is an older, discontinued Essie that I managed to get my hands on late last year. (I'm assuming it's a play on the title of a 1960's movie called "Prudence & the Pill"?) It's not very prune-y, which was a little disappointing. It's a rich red with a brickish tone rather than a plummy/prune-y one. Still, very pretty and it has a lovely, smooth texture for application. I wouldn't really bother to repurchase this, though—it's not the most original colour.Pics:Nails continued >>

I'm torn between a 3 and a 4 rating for this product, but I went ahead and gave it a 4.My coloring: Cool-toned PPPThe polish color: Fit Me On The Jitney is an opaque (with 3 coats) milky pale lavender-pink ivory/nude. I say ivory/nude because it's nudish for me, but more ivory for those who are darker. Think of OPI Bubble Bath and add more pink & lavender undertones and you have something close to FmotJ.The good: This polish is the perfect BABB color for me...meaning it is an opaque creamy nude that does NOT look horrible or chalky or bland. The bad: Streaky application. I usually don't have too much trouble with Essie polish (in part because I avoid the known streaky polishes), but this one gave me some trouble. I needed 3 coats to get it all evened out and looking nice. At 3 coats, it's pretty much opaque. I can just barely make out my white tips.Overall: I would keep this polish and buy it again because the color is one of the nicest opaque "nude" shades for me. If the color didn't work so well for me, I doubt I'd keep it. The color & wear is a 5. The application is a 2. I'm averaging that to a 4 because I haven't found a color like this that works so well for me. I'm breaking my "don't keep any polish that requires 3 coats" rule for this one. continued >>

In general, I bought this after the song by Gary Puckett kept morphing into the name of this color and I had to try it. It's a shade of ivory with a touch of purple pink. The application started off on a bad foot with me in that it was very streaky. In spots it was completely sheer but where the brush strokes put down more color it was semi-sheer to opaque. The second coat I put down so thick it became a very opaque shade of ivory pink with a touch of lavender. The color should probably be a Your Nails But Better if you lay down 2 thin coats. I don't think it's humanly possible for me to lay down thin coats. So if you do it thick like I did you will get a fancy shade of ivory pink. I wouldn't say it was pink but it's definitely NOT ivory.Anyway, the color was very pretty and Essie is known for its lovely sheers and pales. This color will not disappoint if you read my review and understand what you're getting. Read my review for Ultamate Destination for a slight comparison as those colors are very similar. Have not ever used any similar pale Essies such as Mademoiselle, Ballet Slippers, etc. but that may be a good comparison right there.
