I recently bought my first Essie nail polishThe More the Merrier.

I recently bought my first Essie nail polishThe More the Merrier. I have been looking for a fun and bright lime green color that stands out nicely but isn't too neon. I thought I had hit the jackpot with this onebut I was wrong!

The nail polish is 8-9 dollars regularly. I usually tend to lean to Sally Hansen polishes, which I can purchase for under 4 dollars a bottle, depending on the specific line. I decided to try Essie.

Lighting in the store made it look a little brighter than Apple Green. I tried one coat at first. This resulted in a sheer apple green color. In the end I need 3 coats of polish to make the color opaque.

It took forever to dry and was not very gooey, which was a good sign, whereas the drying time was not. I have tried this brand from friends and was not impressed then either. I will not repurchase!

Pretty well highly dislike this polish, color is much less vibrant than it looks, takes THREE damn coats to become opaque! (Far beyond MY patience level) super sticky and goopy, if you don't get it right on the first pass, you're screwed. Takes 100 million years to dry, but good wear. This looks like a great Easter/spring color.. But just leave it on the shelf trust me!

I love this color.

I love this color. The formula is pretty streaky but I am fine with it after two coats. Applies very easily and isn't too goopy.

This polish is streaky, as are most of Essies's polishes.

This polish is streaky, as are most of Essies's polishes. But after 3 coats, it's nice and opaque. After 3 coats, it's not thick either, but I just expect polishes to be opaque after 2 coats, so this polish is just a little more time consuming. It dries in a fair amount of time for each coat though. The brush is also average, narrow and round, which is okay. I prefer a flatter and wider brush like OPI's brushes. The main reason why I got this polish was because of the color! I was looking for a chartreuse and this looked pretty good. It looks chartreuse in natural light, but lime green in artificial lighting so that was a little disappointing, but it's still a loveable color. I use this in conjunction with the Orly Bonder Rubberized Base Coat and OPI's top coat and the staying power is impressive with this polish, a consistent area for Essie. I also love the way the bottle looks. For $8, this is okay. There are better polishes out there, but this color was what got me.

Just to think I almost put this in my swap box.

Just to think I almost put this in my swap box. HA! It is a cool blue based medium depth red that applied smoothly and evenly in 2 coats. I just wish that most of Essie's colors applied this smoothly and evenly. If they did, my Essie collection would be considerably larger. While this particular shade of red is not the most unique, earth shattering color, it's shiny as heck and wears really well. If it wasn't discontinued, I'd buy it again if I ever ran out of it. I may find a dupe of it in my on little collection of red polishes. It's a nice pop of color that is suitable for all seasons.
