I expected better. Every last one of my holos is better. Color Club has strong linear holos, and weaker linear holos. Even their weaker linear holos (Worth The Risque) are better than this. What a huge disappointment!China Glaze used to be able to make good, strong linear holo polishes (remember the OMG collection?), but back then the brand was not available in my country. And now... this just doesn't have the same oomph. If you want a good holo, buy Color Club's. They have a wide range, and those really look like holos. This just looks like a holo that has been eaten, digested and pooped out by a pony.
Sea Ponies is from China Glaze My Little Pony Collection 2017. It's a linear holographic, silver polish. In my collection I have at least another 5 similar polishes. The holographic effect is very noticable (especially in good lighting), but the formula is my least favourite, hence why I wouldn't repurchase this polish. This could be a one-coater, but the polish drags slightly, so you will need another coat to even it out. I found the consistency a little too thick. Also it is somewhat brush-strokey. If you are looking for something with an even stronger holo effect, try Color Club Harp On It. If you prefer scattered holo, try Orly Mirrorball. Or, if you are looking for something similar, but cheaper, try Barry M Holographic Lights or Essence We Will Spock You!
I Sea Ponies is part of the Color Is Magic [My Little Pony] collection, which has just been released. The shade is a slightly dusty tone of silver, with a linear holographic formula. A lovely shade, but in the world of Indie polishes there are hundreds of similar polishes, and [in the mainstream] Color Club has a popular range of linear holographic polishes & China Glaze has had similar shades in their past holographic collections. On the other hand; Indies and Color Club are more expensive, and China Glaze's older holographic polishes are hard to find. This polish is actually pigmented enough to be a one coater, but I've noticed a bit of dragging, so need a second coat to fully even it out don't apply thin coats, as the dragging was more noticeable when I used thinner coats. The formula dries quickly, and I've not experienced any staining [I'm using OPI Nail Envy as a basecoat]. The holographic particles are stronger than the ones used in China Glaze's Hologlam collection, but not as strong as the ones in the much-lusted-after OMG collection. I don't own anything from the Kaleidoscope collection, but by going off swatch pictures, I'd say that they're the same = the same as the Color Club Halo Hues.In general nail polishes will last me anywhere between two to four days with only minimal wear. But as I'm a self powered wheelchair user I'm tough on my hands and am always catching my nails, so I can't really speak for how long lasting the formula is overall.
