Haute Tub is described by Essie as being jet black with amethyst flash, and I believe this is an accurate description. Haute Tub is a black polish chock full of silver glitter which shifts purple and pink depending on the light. I used two coats on my nail and found the glitter to be visible in both natural day light and artificial light it only looked like plain black polish in dim or dark conditions. The glitter was not as colour shifting on the nail as it was in the bottle, which is a bit of a shame, but the overall effect on the nail is still gorgeous. Two coats is all you need for full opacity, and the formula is excellent. It is neither to thick or thin, does not run or apply with patches or streaks. It also is not tricky to remove, despite all of the shimmer which is a bonus. I was pleased to find that it did not stain my nail either, which is great seeing as it is such a dark shade. It lasted 5 days without chipping or tipwear when paired with base and top coat. This is definitely one of the best formulated Essies I have used. I love this colour for the colder seasons, it has that 'something special' about it. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes shimmery polishes. Honestly I am surprised by the other reviews stating the shimmer is barely visible. I find this to be a gorgeous shimmery nail polish.

This polish is just "meh". In the bottle there's loads of pink glitter, but when you apply it on the nail you have to look very closely to see any glitter ...and I mean very closely. It's basically a black polish. On the upside though, application was a doddle and was opaque in 2 easy coats. Sadly this one wasn't for me.

Looks amazing in the bottle but doesn't translate to the nail unfortunately. Haute Tub is from Essie's Winter 2015 Collection. It's a black creme that's loaded with these color-shifting purple microglitters. Based on how it looked in the bottle I thought this polish was going to be unbelievable. It just looks black. You can see the glitter. If you're looking really hard. And if you're in the right light. Meaning, it's pretty much just a black polish.No complaints regarding the formula. But the color was a letdown and I wouldn't buy this one again.
