This is one of the richest, most complex browns I've come across. It's deep, almost purple-y, but still pretty neutral. My two other favorite browns are MAC Deep, Dark & Delicious (anyone remember that one??) & OPI Get in the Espresso Lane, but Partner In Crime in less greyed & richer than either of those. I agree with the previous review that it is on the thicker side. I may add a drop or two of thinner to it, but regardless it flows well and levels beautifully. As with all recent Essie polishes the shine is outstanding. I don't know what they've done with their polishes over the last year to get that shine, but I love it! No negatives here, I can imagine this looking amazing on almost every skintone.

Partner in Crime is part of Essie's Fall 2014 collection Dressed to Kilt. As a huge fan of mystery novels, I was drawn to the theme and names of this collection but the colors are pretty awesome, as well. Partner in Crime is a very deep, vamp-y dark brown the color of bitter chocolate. It's absolutely gorgeous. In the store, I hesitated between this and OPI's How Great is your Dane? from their Fall 2014 collection, but in the end, it looks as if HGIYD has more of a cool grey base while PIC is warmer, so I chose the latter. Application was very easy; the formula is a bit on the thick side (so I felt as if I were dipping the brush into molten chocolate) but it went on very smoothly with no streaking or patchiness at all.
