I love this deep midnight blue color, with its' silver glitter peeking out like so many stars in the night sky..the silver is covered up by different amounts of the blue jelly-glaze, so the glitter doesnt just jump out at you, but like stars in the night sky all look different, so do these.that said, it is a pita to get off, as has been said many times. I rec a base coat, since it stains (I didnt have one). 1/2 oz bottle good for 3-4 manis, with the last one getting hard to apply due to thick gloopiness.Overall, would definitely buy again if/when I'm looking for a deep blue.

This version of Starry Starry Night is from the spring 2016 Retro Revival collection, and it is a dark [a bit deeper than royal] blue jelly with silver microglitter in. The original Starry Starry Night is from the 80's and is a bit darker [a navy shade], and the formula is packed with diamond dust, not microglitter several bloggers own the mega rare and pricy original, and have photos of the two polishes to compare them. The formula for this version is thick-but-workable. It can goop up and apply streaky if you are new to it, but once you get used to working with the less-then-great formula, you can get a mostly even & opaque finish in two coats. I do think that the end result is pretty, but the difficult formula lead me to try other blue microglitter/jelly polishes in search of something similar but easier to work with, and I found Pretty Serious Eye Of Copernicus which is a dupe for the original Starry Starry Night. Pretty Serious also do a lighter blue jelly with blue microglitter called BSOD, which I also reccomend over this.

Starry Starry Night is from Retro Revival 2016 Collection.

Starry Starry Night is from Retro Revival 2016 Collection. It's a navy jelly polish loaded with silver glitter. I have never owned the original SSN, so I can't compare the two. I do agree with other reviews that this polish is a little gloopy, but it is still manageable. I used 2 coats, which gave me perfect coverage. I had a little edge wear by the end of day 2. It's not the easiest polish to remove, due to glitter, but not as difficult as some of the other glitter polishes. I didn't exactly love this polish, but I like it very much and I had many compliments wearing it.

This is a beautiful colour, it's a gorgeous deep blue with small silver shimmer particles.

This is a beautiful colour, it's a gorgeous deep blue with small silver shimmer particles. The issue is the consistency of this polish. I have never owned such a terrible Essie polish, this is thick and goopy, extremely difficult to apply and often looks clumpy on the nail. The colour itself looks amazing if you can somehow get it to smooth out but it's not worth the hassle imo.

Chunky, gloopy and childish.

Chunky, gloopy and childish. I got so excited when I heard this was being re-released, and got even more so when it landed at my CVS (as it feels like things never do!), so I didn't read all the chatter online about how this was different from the original. Never having owned that, I can't totally judge it comparatively, but the original look as lot more sophisticated than the glittery goop I have on. I seem to remember that one huge glitter manufacturer that owned the nail polish glitter market went out of business, so perhaps that was the original source.Today is the first day I've actually tried it on and it's such a bummer. The color reminds me of a discontinued Fiestaware plate color my mother has (cobalt, I believe) and I'm not terribly fond of it. I find myself lacking the words to describe its specific deficit, but there is one. The glitter it too big for what I had hoped it to look like, and it is gobby. I am not one of those women who paints nails well, so I count on the formula to do it for me, as so many do these days, and this is just not great. Not the worst, but it lacks flow. Into the discard bin. I will continue to pine for Chanel Ciel de Nuit!
