Firstly to be candid, I received this free from a co-worker who was cleaning out her collection and I was super excited. I had seen the palette in stores but could never justify spending 20$ cad for it when I already had nude shades in smaller packaging for a lower price point. Pros:The packaging isn't overly cumbersome and is very sturdy. It is small enough to fit in a standard sized cosmetic bag, but solid enough to toss in your purse without any of the shadows breaking and leaking everywhere. Some reviewers have stated it looks cheap due to it being bulky plastic, but travel-wise it was a good design. The shade selection is also nice with some matte and some shimmer shadows, as well as light gold shade with chunkier pieces of glitter. I really appreciate the matte white and the gold-bronze shimmery shade is to die for if you like wearing warmer colours. Cons:Colour payoff is very disappointing on majority of the shades. The lighter colours intended to be highlights (white, glitter gold, shimmery pink) are well pigmented and apply smoothly, however the darker brown shades in both matte and shimmer options take 3-4 layers with a shadow brush to show up properly. Especially the purple tinted brown (second from the left, top row next to the light gold) which is a shame, because in the pot it's beautiful. FalloutEvery time I use this palette the Mariana's Trench song 'Fallout' plays in my head on a loop. Seriously, I have tried with various shadow brushes of all shapes, sizes and textures and there's no way around it. Prepare to have a thick layer of concealer under the eyes ready to hide all of it, and it will still occasionally leave specks on your cheeks/nose/everywhere throughout the day, so you may have to either wipe or reapply concealer or foundation at least once. This also takes away from how well the packaging is for travel, because these colours are not easy to apply on the go and require a lot of extra product to clean up afterwards.VerdictI'm very happy I got to try this palette for free, at 15$ US and 20$ CAD it is very overpriced for the quality. I like the concept and the marketing/packaging is all very attractive to me but it would not be worth purchasing again as I only find 4 out of 10 shades wearable and I do a lot of my makeup application on the go.

The colors are very well pigmentedThey transfer rather smoothly to the lidA nice balance of shimmery colors and matte shades. Great variety of neutral tones. I look forward to buying the Stormy Nights version of it from Target.

I purchased this palette mainly for the white eyeshadow and I'm really happy that it was one of the 3 that are usable. Most of the shadows are barely pigmented and require a lot of packing in order for it to show up. The 2 darker colours are pigmented as well as the white, but the rest are rubbish

I have smaller, hooded asian eyes that are pretty sensitive.

I have smaller, hooded asian eyes that are pretty sensitive. This palette swatches quite badly on my arm.. The pigmentation leave something to be desired. Since I have hooded eyes, I have only used the matte shades regularly. The white doesn't really show up on my skin because the pigmentation is lacking, and I have to really dig in there to get some of the other shades to show up, too. I mean, it's not SO awful that it's unusable.. The shades are nice and pretty (really like that they included a wearable purple and gold). But even as a beginner in eyeshadow, I can tell that the quality is really bad... I have had much more success with wet n wild shadows and this older nyx palette that's been discontinued (I believe). I think nyx is not very consistent across all of their shadows. I LOVE this brand, but not this palette. The worst thing is the fall out. POWDER EVERYWHERE. If I'm not inhaling it all in while trying to put these shadows onto my face, the fall out gets all over my undereyes/cheeks and into my eyes. My sensitive eyes become VERY irritated and weep all day long. But it seems this only happens when I'm trying to do a more intense shadow look like smokey eyes. This also happens with other brands' eyeshadows too, though.Anyways, I won't be repurchasing this specific palette because of these reasons.

I've spent more time thinking about this palette than just about any other mu I own.

I've spent more time thinking about this palette than just about any other mu I own. I first saw the Dreamcatcher palettes last spring when they came out and was really tempted to buy one but I seldom buy something the first time I see it. I also already had pretty much all the eyeshadows I needed, or things that would work similarly. However, I was able to get the Golden Horizons palette a few weeks ago at Ulta for only $8.99, so I snapped it up. Everything about it is lovely, from the shadow shades to the packaging with that stealthy sliding drawer--I was really anxious to try it out. But when I tried the shadows, the disappointment set in; they simply weren't very pigmented. I also looked at the ingredients, which I should have done before I bought it, and there are some questionable things in there--polyethylene terephthalate, anyone? So I started using the palette nearly every morning, trying to decide whether I should keep or return it. The tension was ridiculous! I finally opted to keep it, as this is a useful palette despite not quite being what I expected (and I paid so little for it). Most of my other eyeshadows have shimmer, so the matte browns in the palette are nice to have. A couple of the shadows, such as the white, are good for an allover eyeshadow base. So I will definitely be using this palette, just not necessarily as an everyday thing that you can get an overall eye look out of. I've made my peace with this palette, but I really can't recommend anyone to buy it.
