This is a little five shadow palette that initially caught my eye mostly because of the packaging. While it's not the most sturdy or luxurious-looking palette, the combination of shiny pink and studs still spoke to some part of me. When swatching it in store I was quite impressed with the shadows, especially because the only eyeshadow palette that I'd tried from NYX before was the Dream Catcher Palette, which I found to be really lacking in pigmentation and formulation all-together. While the shadows in this palette are a mixed bunch, I would say that all of them are better than the ones in the Dream Catcher Palette. Surprisingly, the two matte shadows are the best out of the bunch. I find that matte eyeshadows often lack pigmentation in drugstore palettes, but those two are easy to work with and wears quite well at least with an eyeshadow primer, which is how I wear all eyeshadows due to terribly oily eyelids. The darker brown (top left) impresses me the most with how pigmented and butter-y smooth it is. The choice to make that pan basically double the size of the lighter brown (bottom right) seems odd to me though. Naturally everyone will wear the different shades differently, but surely a darker shade like that will be used more as an accent rather than an all over lid or crease colour? To me, it would make much more sense to have the peach/coral shade (middle right) in the bigger pan. Out of the three shimmer shadows, the peach actually disappoints me the most, simply because it's the stand-out shade in the palette. When swatched with a finger it looks quite vibrant, but I can't seem to build up the intensity on the lid the way I'd like to. Out of all the shades, it probably fades the quickest as well, adding to the disappointment. The gold shimmer (top right) is scratchier to the feel, and shows up more as glitter without much of a "base colour", which makes me reach for it less. The last highlighter shade (bottom left) is the other of the two bigger pans, possibly as to double as a highlighter as well? This, to me, is the best shimmer shade out of the three, though it is similar to the peach shade in that it fades quicker than I'd like. For some reason I'm not sure why I find that the finished look is always a little more muddled and messy than usual. Possibly because particularly the shimmery shades are quite powder-y and therefore bleeds into each other easily during application. Judging by how the shadows fade quite a lot over the hours, the shadow doesn't seem to stick to the lid very well, despite the primer. It would explain why it's so hard to build up intensity in the shades as well. Maybe using a creme base on top of the primer could help? Overall, I'm a little bit underwhelmed with the palette. Again, I'd say that it's better than the Dream Catcher Palette, but worse than NYX's single shadows, especially those from the Prismatic line. It's an okay drugstore palette, but I wouldn't repurchase it, and it hasn't made me want to try more of NYX's palettes.
