NYX Round Lipstick in Sunflower is a red-coral lipstick with a frosty finish. NYX Round Lipsticks are cruelty free, hypoallergenic, paraben free, and available in 144 shades. I purchased Sunflower at Ulta for $2.98, it was 50% off. Round Lipsticks usually go for about $4 for 4g of product. NYX can be purchased at Ulta, CherryCulture, a variety of etailers, and select drugstores. NYX lipsticks are made in Taiwan.I always rave about Round Lipstick packaging, and NYX packaging in general. The packaging is everything you could ask for. Functional, sturdy, and cute. A simple black twist up tube with matching black cap. There's a clear bit at the bottom with a bit of rubber in it, matching the color of the lipstick. Combine that with the compact size (about 2 1/2 inches), and clear labeling, and you get a lipstick that's very storage-friendly. The cap of these lipsticks snaps on firmly so they're very purse and pocket friendly. And eye friendly, NYX has a cute logo that's girly but tasteful. WinLike many NYX Rounds, the color of Sunflower is complex and interesting. Sunflower is a coral with strong red tones. Sounds warm toned, yeah? Nope. It's cool. It has a blue edge to it. How? I don't know, but I like it. It's one of the rare red lipsticks that suits me. And it suits me rather well apparently, I've gotten a few compliments on it, and my roommate has only made one hooker joke when I've worn it. Sunflower has a fairly frosty finish, but the frostiness of the lipstick can be diffused by sheering out the color.Like most NYX Round Lipsticks, Sunflower delivers a super pigmented, saturated color payoff with just one swipe. It's pretty impressive.Sunflower has a silky, moisturizing texture with a lot of slip to it. It glides right on straight out of the tube. Unfortunately, because Sunflower is even slippier than most NYX Rounds, it also glides right onto the edge of your cup, or your boyfriend's cheek. It also slips around on the lips when you talk, so a lip liner could be a wise choice. But alas, I can't really be bothered to use a lip liner. So my solution for the wear-fail is to layer Sunflower over Revlon's Just Bitten Lip Stain in Gothic, and then blot some of Sunflower off. It works pretty well and it gives me 4 or so hours of wear. Without the fancy layering technique, you'll probably get about 2 1/2 to 3 hours of wear which is average for this lipstick line.A big turn off for some is the chemically, sunscreen like scent and taste of these lipsticks. Personally, I don't mind it. But it's a common complaint about this line of lipsticks. It's not really strong. I can only smell it during application, so unless you have scent sensitivities or are sniffing your lipstick, you shouldn't pick up the scent too much.I love NYX Round Lipsticks and Sunflower is no exception. I just wish it wore better on it's own. The lipstick/lipstain/blotting method is so much efforttt. It's worth it though, it's not every day I find a red that works for me, and I love the semi-complex color of Sunflower. I'll repurchase Sunflower if I ever go through the whole tube. Almost everything about this lipstick is pure wins.
