So like previous MUA-ber noted this was an exclusive OPI polish only available in France. I scored mine as a duo pack via zulily a couple of months ago. (so I didn't have to spend a fortune on it...actually it was cheaper than 1 bottle of OPI normal price at Ulta) This is not quite like a shatter finish. I would compare it to the water marble technique that you drop the polish and spritz it with water. The end effect is a "spotted" muttled black over your color. So if you can't get OPI spotted or want a cheap dupe...try the water marble/spritz technique.I like the finish. (Then again I like the crackle) However this type of polish effect is much more finnicky with work with.Tips for good application:1. your base coat must be dry. If the nail polish is wet, this spotted coat will spot but also crackle.2. must work with very thin coat to have the best effect. If it's applied to thick it will crackle.3. allow the spotted layer to dry for about 5 minutes before topcoat, as not to smudge.I would repurchase, but I seldomly use this color so my current bottle will last a long time.

It's a little bit different but not a lot.A little background on OPI Black Spotted: It was supposed to be released as part of the 2012 Amazing Spiderman Collection, but due to patent/copyright reasons this particular color was only available for sale in Sephora stores in France. Seriously, Sephora stores in France and nowhere else. As you can imagine, this drove up the price due to its exclusivity and unavailability. Well time has passed and as of today, it's available on Amazon for approximately $20 including shipping. Yes that's high for OPI, but it's a lot cheaper than what it was a few short months ago. And I think this drop in price is due not only to the fact that interest has waned, but that this polish really isn't that great.First of all, know that to achieve the "spotted" effect, you need to use the thinnest of thin layers for this to work. Thin, thin, thin! Otherwise it's just going to be a mess. And even if you do use an appropriately thin coat, the effect will still be really similar to that of "shatter" or "crackle" topcoats, the cracks will just be rounder and softer, that's all. And as I said earlier, if you don't like shatter-type polishes then you probably won't like this one. Also, there was a dulling effect on whatever base color I used, making a top coat necessary. Seems like a lot of work was involved to make this polish look goodhigh maintenance. It is difficult to remove as well, even with acetone.Months & months of blogger photos of this polish plus $50 and higher EBay prices made a lot of people think they had to have this polish because they couldn't get this polishmyself included. Maybe it's not 100% OPI's fault that this ended up getting as hyped as it did, but it is overhyped. Wouldn't repurchase.
