My favorite new polish.

My favorite new polish. Really stunning shade. The more layers you add, the more gorgeous and deeper the color turns. The only set back I find is this doesn't dry well for me for some reason. By the next morning there's always a little smudge somewhere which doesn't normally happen when I apply other OPI polishes. Regardless, this has definitely lived up to the hype.

Magazine Cover Mouse is a cheerful shade of raspberry red with a strong pink undertone with red glitter packed into the finish. I think it's a perfect red shade for those of us who don't feel very confident wearing red, as the pink undertone softens the vibrancy of the red overtones. I love the look and feel of the 'liquid sand' finish. It is made to be worn without a topcoat for the gritty, matte finish, but as there are glitter particles in the polish it looks good with topcoat too. I personally prefer the matte look of this polish, so I do find it will chip faster then normal OPI polishes, but as it has a textured finish touch ups are easy to do and are virtually unidentifiable.I've removed a lippie as OPI have already released a few very similar raspberry shades within their liquid sand range: the closest match beingThe Impossible (Mariah Carey s/s 2013). Having said that I do think that this shade does have the best pigmentation and formula out of the shade-a-likes; it's nearly a 1 coater on me, applies very smoothly for a textured polish, and dries very quickly.

Smooth golden color, unlike some cheap looking ones I've seen.

Smooth golden color, unlike some cheap looking ones I've seen. And this gold looks great with a tan.

UPDATEToday was the firs time my boyfriend saw this polish on my nails and he actually complimented me on it! It's really rare that my boyfriend likes a nail polish!END OF UPDATE.I actually really like this polish! I have never seen a liquid sand polish on anyone before, so my nails look quite unique. I'm a fan of either nude, light pinks or some kind of red nail polishes I'm not really into colours like blue, purple, green, yellow I guess they just don't fit my style. I DO have other polishes than reds and nudes, but I don't really like them... Anyways: OPI has come up with a great alternative for me: the Couture De Minnie collection and the Take 10, which consist of small 3.75 mL / 1/8 oz bottles. Of course some polishes are better than others, but the collections are still worth the price I got them for. The bottles are perfect for a person like me, who gets bored of a polish 1/3 into the bottle..In the winter I really like red polishes and, as said: I easily get bored of the same nail polish. I like to vary the colours, but also the textures: cream, jelly, shimmer, micro shimmer, glitter, pearlescent... and now this: liquid sand! If you're wondering about what other textures of nail polishes are out there, check out this great description of types and finishes:http://nailsaloveaffair.blogspot.no/p/have-you-ever-been-sitting-somewhere.html?showComment=1385290843844.NOW ONTO THE ACTUAL REVIEW:.The Magazine Cover Mouse looks like a true red with gold shimmer in the bottle. However, if you take the brush out, you will see that the base polish is a sheer reddish-pink and it's actually some of the glitter that is red. I found this nail polish easy to apply. It has quite a different texture than the regular cream polishes: it's quite much thicker and drier not to be confused with dried out nail polish! It's just... different. I only needed one coat of this: I just applied a lot at once. .The polish dried down to a matte glitter. I find it perfect for when I don't want my nails to look too festive with glossy glitter. I though I might be bothered by the texture: it's gritty and I have a tendency to pick at things that are gritty. However, the picker in me wasn't bothered by the texture of this polish. .The colour of the polish when it dries is a matte, muted strawberry red with small gold glitter. I think it's a great texture for people that don't suffer from dryness around the nail. If you want to, you could put some clear polish over and turn this into a regular red shimmer, but if this is actually the preferred texture, just buy a glossy shimmer in the first place. .The wear time of this isn't really that great: I see some wear at the tips after two days, but with the gritty texture, it's not eye-catching (like it is with cream polishes). I'm used to longer lasting polishes, but they also tend to take much more time to apply and to dry. This polish took me about 5 minutes to apply, so I think it's a good deal..I think I have given a decent description of the polish. Now it's up to you to decide if you want to try it or not. I do not know If I will buy this again or not, but I don't regret buying it. BTW: there are other brands that carry red liquid sand polishes.

I had high hopes for this one, but it was not what I expected.

I had high hopes for this one, but it was not what I expected. It looks like tin foil on my nails. I was hoping for a more disco ball look, but the excess smaller sparkles turn it opaque. Also, as always, taking sparkle nail polish off is AWFUL.
