You can absolutely do the exact same procedure with super glue and baking soda.

You can absolutely do the exact same procedure with super glue and baking soda. I've been doing it for years and after trying this I'll go back to using the baking soda. This kit works fine, don't get me wrong. 😀 Its a decent product but I'm cheap

Where has this been all my life? My nails split and break all the time thanks to a new puppy and other life intrusions:) this stuff is amazing, easy to use, dries almost immediately and really works, so far. My only complaint is that like any super glue product, the container kind of dries up and is hard to open after a few uses. But doesn't matter, now that I know about it thanks to some other muaer I'll always have some on hand.

Wonderful product.

Wonderful product. It works! Easy to use. This is not a new product and it has been on the market for many years before I discovered it. I am very impressed. I bought this after years of using tea bags or silk wraps and recently I saw several older You Tube tutorials on nail repair that used this powder and glue and it looked so simple and fast that I wanted to give it a try. I found this a couple of weeks ago at my local Sally's Beauty Supply and bought this little kit. I paid around $7.50 for this but it's worth so much more. It comes with a small bottle of glue, a little pot of loose powder, and a small buffing square. I used this 10 days ago to patch a break that was starting on my nail and had previously patched with a silk wrap. I had never used this before so this is a first impression review. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Prep nail and clean it. Apply a thin even layer of glue keeping it away from cuticles and sidewalls. Immediately dip into powder and brush off excess. Let dry. Buff to smooth and repeat steps. Super easy. I had no trouble but I did prefer following the video instructions as compared to just reading them and following an illustration. I applied the glue a little too heavy though in one spot so I had to do a lot of buffing and smoothing to get it all evened out there. I patched this nail almost two weeks ago and it is still holding strong and you can't tell it's broken beneath the patch. They recommend applying this as a full nail application and that is easier that just doing a small square patch like the silks anyway. The hardest thing on this was the filing and buffing and that wasn't hard at all, just a little time consuming and requires patience. You've got to take time to get this nice and even or some polishes like chromes, frosts, and cremes could show and accentuate every flaw/ridge/bump/groove so make sure to do a thin even layer of glue, repeat steps as necessary, and buff well taking your time to make it smooth. Even on naked nails you can't tell which one I patched. This does add strength to your nail just as an acrylic overlay does. It has lasted longer than my silks and so far I haven't had any lifting or fraying at the edges. The silks tend to start to fray at the edges and sides with tip wear over a couple of weeks and sometimes even then the patch won't hold and the break will catch on my hair or threads and such. This product does not do that and I am delighted with its performance so far. I change my manis several times a week and this has held up to 5 polish changes so far and still is in perfect shape. Two layers is all I needed to repair and it gives my nails time to grow out keeping them all the same length without having to cut them all down to nubs just because I broke one. I really love this powder/glue kit and it works great for me. I work in a hospital and wash my hands too many times a day to count and have exposure to lots of chemicals and antibacterials and such and this holds up to all that. I love that this is so easy to apply, has no strong chemical smell like the gel cure spray does, and is fast too. This required zero learning curve and for the first time try, this was a complete success. I love this product already! I feel like I have salon results right in my own home. I can repair any time without waiting for an appointment and it looks as good.

I seem to frequently get a horizontal split on the side of my left thumb, always in the same place which makes it hard to grow the length out. Using this as an overlay on the whole nail allows me to maintain the length as the split eventually grows out. I use a different buffing tool than the one that comes in the kit (therefore the three lippies on packaging) but I haven't had any issues with the glue drying out.

I use this kit along with the "teabag" method to salvage a broken nail.

I use this kit along with the "teabag" method to salvage a broken nail. I will often get a crack in the nail plate on my thumbs very close to the free edge. I find that when I apply a sliver of tea bag alone, the crack only is repaired for a few days. I then purchased this product to apply over a tea bag...works like a dream. Repair will last a good 2 weeks. My technique:1. drop of nail glue to crack2. apply the teabag sliver3. thin brush application of more nail glue4. Dip into the acrylic powder, gentle tap excess powder off5. (hardest step) wait for everything to dry. I wait 10 minutes6. Buff smooth.7. Wash residual acrylic powder off.Price is very reasonable. Easy to find at Sally's. Nail glue supplied is tiny, but works well with other nail glues and even Krazy Glue (ran out of my usual nail glue)I always have this available in my manicure box for quick nail repair. Removal is easy, acetone base nail polish remover via soak off or foil wrap removes my repair patch without any difficulty.
