YES YES YES! Brassy brunettes REJOICE WITH THIS PRODUCT. If you want to remove brass buy this. If you want to add an awesome gray dimension to your hair TRY THIS.I have darker light to medium brown hair with some silver coming in and have several natural white streaks in my hair (think, Rogue. Had them since I was born.) Because of hard water, sun exposure, and daily wear and tear, my ash brown hair tends to get very orange-brassy. I stupidly tried 2 different hair box dyes in light ash brown and one was light neutral brown and they lifted my hair redder than it was when I started. UGH UGH UGH. After much YouTube and Googling, I stumbled on this product. I had read back and forth that you were to use it mixed with the Wella toner T14 for brassy (T18 is for yellow) and then I saw people use it alone with a developer. I read reviews that said the Wella toners lightened their hair and after seeing a YouTube video of a gal using just this product and a 20 vol. developer and come out with a dark brown gray ash brunette color I decided to just go ahead with this additive alone and skipped the toner.SO AWESOME. Gals if you have brunette hair you CAN USE THIS TO GET RID OF BRASSY TONES. I did not want to lighten my hair at all so I used half a bottle of this product (1:2 ratio) and then double that of a generic 10 volume creme developer. If you just want to remove brass -I highly recommend sticking with a 10 volume or less developer. It turned out GREAT. I have long hair down to my breasts, and a half bottle of the 050 and two parts developer were enough to saturate my hair. You don't need to use the whole thing, especially if you are removing just brass. This is a game changer for me and so much smarter than using box dye to remove brass (since most box dyes are 20 vol. developer and can lift some color from your roots).I left mine on for about 15 minutes and it started to look dark, but I could have left it on for longer. You just have to watch and see what you like. I did the mistake of following videos and sectioned my hair and started with my hair that was underneath first so my top layers didn't get a long enough saturation compared to my bottom. I normally NEVER section my hair I always start top down because the top parts of my hair are the most brassy, so I'm going back in with more color and doing just the top parts that I want to emphasize. Just know that this doesn't turn violet once the color develops, it's like a smokey gray lotion. It's great. The smell was like a typical hair dye smell and it washed out easily. It didn't mark up my clothes and if it got on my skin, it wiped off easily. My hair was a bit dry after rinsing, but any deep conditioner (or the tubes you get in box dye) perked it up immediately. Totally recommended trying this you CAN use it on brunette hair and use it alone BUT with a 10 vol. developer. It works so well for brass. Just watch your strands and stop when you don't want too much gray. Parts of my hair turned out a beautiful gray. This stuff is GOLD for me!

I lighten my hair at home from medium/light brown to a level 9 blonde. My favored toner has pretty much always been Wella Color Charm T14, the one originally called Silver Lady. I like a very ashy, silvery blonde. Recently I mistakenly purchased 2 bottles of T18. I've used T18 before but it never toned as well for me as the T14 some yellows and pale oranges tended to stick around. I luckily have a couple bottles of Color Charm 050 on hand, which I'd experimented with before but never really figured out how to routinely incorporate it. But I knew it would help cool down the mix. I mixed two capfuls of it into the full bottle of T18, and processed it for 35 minutes with 20 vol developer. And I like the results much better than when I used just T14. It's less of a grey blonde and more like the pearl blonde Taylor Swift had a few years back, a bit more multi dimensional and actually more natural-looking. Anyways, buying that T18 was a happy mistake, and now the mixture of T18 and Cooling Violet are going to be my new go-to. It's just as well too because T18 is so much easier to find than T14.

I use 050 as an additive to wella T18 and it's the only combination which leaves my hair the silvery grey I've been aiming for. My natural hair is a fair blonde, but I chose to bleach prior to using these which might effect the outcome, and oh boy did I fall in love ! After bleaching, my hair was looking something like the imside of a banana peel (very attractive) pale but you could see the yellow tones there, amd one streak of orange (i dont know, and im still confused about that one) I mixed one part t18 with a 20vol developer and about 8-9 caps of 050 onto towel dried hair and worked it to a larger. It scared the hell out of me first go around as it was clear in the bowl and when I first applied, and turned DARK purple when I looked back in the mirror. I left it on for about 15 minutes and the outcome was a nice ashy silver, not too light or dark.Condition wise, my hair feels amazing. Very soft and still shiny. I have struggled to have vibrant looking grey in my hair but this combination nailed it. In terms of a general toner for blonde I probably wouldn't recommend it just to neutralize brassy tones, the colour change from light to grey happens so quickly, and you would have to be glued to a mirror to get it right. But if you're confident and don't mind the chance of some ashy or lilac tint than go for it. I found the longevity better than most colours I usually use. I do add a little of the 050 to my shampoo every week which helps a lot to keep things even. With that plus application I got around 2 months of colour. Fading started around week 5, turning lighter silver gradually until my banana peel head peeked through and needed redoing. For about $11 aud plus developer (which is stockpiled like the apocalypse is coming in my house) i am over the moon with Wella and I will keep using it until I get bored of my hair again !

I've used this again and again. Never on its own for pure silver, but in varying strengths as additive. A few capfuls in my regular t14/18 toners give it more oomph. Most recently I had blorange hair that was so stubborn. I mixed half and half this 050 with wella frosty ash high lift blonde color, double the 20 developer and left on only about 15 minutes since I was worried my hair looked practically black. Upon rinsing, it was the ashiest blonde! Literally, NO brass at all. With my cool skin tone I think it's more flattering? I hope ha. If I had used only the 050 with developer, it would've turned gunmetal even on orange hair I know that much. HIGHLY recommend this stuff! It stinks like ammonia so I'm sure it's damaging.

I don't know why this isn't talked and raved about more often! This is the only thing that worked and busted that horrible brassy orange gold out of my hair. I'm about a level 9 or 10 on my top half, and I just could not get rid of that orange gold. I tried several different Wella toners, especially the T14 because it is suppose to tone orange gold, but I couldn't get it to work. I don't know why I didn't try Wella 050 Cooling Violet sooner. It worked very well on my lower half too, which is about a level 7 or 8. It gave me a very natural ashy dark dirty blonde on bottom and a very light ashy dirty blonde on top. I'm so happy with my results. If you leave this on too long, you will probably have some silver blue streaks, which will wash out. I left it on for the max time of 45 minutes, mixed 1:2 ratio with 10 volume developer on damp hair. I'm going to continue to use this to tone with, and I'm going to use this mixed with any dye in the future. This gives me a result very similar to my natural hair color, which is a very ashy 7/8. I highly recommend giving this a try to bust brass if nothing else is working. I know I've read a lot about having to bleach light enough to be able to tone, well this worked wonders on my bottom half level 7 or 8 brass. I couldn't believe it. I really thought that I was going to have to do a full bleach or just go darker. All around thumbs up from me!
