I was so looking forward to this color. I've been looking for a nice not-so-bright kind of yellow, maybe a bit on the pale side, and this one is the color i want. sadly, it's not as pigmented as i thought it would be. after about three coats, it's still not fully yellow. a bit streaky, not streaky enough to notice but i'm just strict on these things. i gave it three stars because, if someone is not looking directly at your nails or examining them close up, it's a fabulous color.
A very bright, shimmery canary yellow, not as warm as The "It" Color, but slightly too warm to be neutral. I don't have MAC's Phosphor, but the pictures I've seen makes me think Cabana Banana is a good dupe for it. The formula is very thin and runny so you have to be extra-careful while applying this polish. Wipe your brush off and use thin layers to build up intensity. I found that I needed about 4 coats to get the best look, so this definitely isn't something you can slap on if you're in a hurry. I think the end result is worth it--the color is so bright and glowy (without being neon) that it makes my foot look tanner (and almost gray-ish, which some yellows do to me). It's discontinued but you can still find bottles on eBay sometimes. I'd definitely repurchase this.
Banana Bandana is a very pretty color from the bottle. I always like yellow with an understatement. I don't like the yellow look too bright and this one is just right for me. It' subtle yellow and it's not as bright as Need Sunglasses? However, when I apply, it's very streaky and sheer. It takes a good three coats to have my nails completely cover evenly and then, it takes forever to dry and the nails look too thick! I am a bit disappointed with this nail polish as I really loves this color. It looks great in spring and summer and it's very pretty. But application is hell and I hope that OPI will do something about getting the right formula so that every collection, girls will find it fun and easy to apply their products. Though I said I won't purchase it again, I probably will as I really love this color. And I love yellow too.
I love the color but it takes four or more coats of this for me to get an even color, and then it takes forever to dry. I'll keep an eye out for a dupe.
The first time I tried this polish, I hated it! It pooled at my cuticles, it was supremely streaky! But I thought, what a waste, its such a pretty banana yellow color! It remained untouched until recently. I just bought Nailtek foundation II and it helped me apply a few problematic colors well, so I tried OPI BB again, and I saw a big difference! A good base coat really made a difference, it felt like I was working w/ a totally different bottle! Not to say I didnt have to be supremely careful when applying, I did. I ended up using 4 thin coats to get it opaque and even. It truly is a beautiful color and Im glad I got it to work for me.
