Great matte polish that actually lasts a full week without chipping and becoming a mess.

Great matte polish that actually lasts a full week without chipping and becoming a mess. I love orly and always have. This polish is opaque in one coat and looks very classic and understated. Beautiful reddish plum.Doesn't stain, removes so easily, and applies without a problem.

I actually have Orly's matte polishes in two shades, this purple velvet as well as a black shade.

I actually have Orly's matte polishes in two shades, this purple velvet as well as a black shade. The black needs more than one coat to really show up, but the purple does just fine with one layer. I was really impressed with how resistant this polish is it doesn't chip easily, even without a topcoat, but it removes cleanly even without a base polish! Pretty awesome when you take into account how inexpensive it is. The only thing I dislike is that it's difficult to find around where I live, so I've had to resort to Amazon to get more. :C Boo, shipping. But it's definitely worth it.

Ok I'm not reviewing this for it's intended purpose, I'm reviewing this to be used like gradient fluid for creating an ombre effect with glitter. So I picked this trick up on the NB from the member MissHavisham, but she doesn't seem to review stuff, so I've decided to share it with ya'll. Basically what I do is: Do a full mani, top coat and everything, with your chosen base color. Let it dry completely. To be safe give it 20 if you're using a fast dry t/c. Then at the base or tip of the nail, place a small blob of glitter, let it set for 15 seconds. Load the brush with a generous amount of smudge fixer and use it to drag the glitter to the center of the nail to create a gradient effect. Dip the smudge fixer brush in acetone between nails and wipe it on a tissue so you don't get a bunch of glitter in your sf. Apply another layer of top coat to keep it extra shiny :)Read on for a pic of a final result >>>>Here the base color is Illamasqua Boosh, then China Glaze Ruby Pumps, and Sinful Nail Junkie on top of that. continued >>

This is a very pretty shade of dark purple.

This is a very pretty shade of dark purple. It's a matte shade. Unlike other mattes, this takes longer to dry, which is good since it gives you longer to apply neatly and doesn;t dry while you're still applying. The application was smooth. Another great thing about this polish was the lasting power. Even without a base coat, this polish lasted for more than two days with only minor tip wear, and no chipping. Great product.

I am REALLY not impressed.

I am REALLY not impressed. It possibly does a little something but correct an actual smudge... I don't think so
