Vertical Rush is from the Ski (winter 2009) collection, and is a blue-toned red that looks shimmery almost metallic in the bottle. When applied to the nail, the shimmer sorts of fades into the red base of the formula for a pearl finish; this 'faded shimmer' effect actually works in the polish's favor, as it gives the shade a lit-from-within molten quality. In swatch pictures online this shade has a pink undertone for a raspberry look, but on me it is a definite blue-based red shade [not too far from cranberry] which disappointed me a bit, because all mainstream brands do pearly red shades China Glaze themselves have several. The shade didn't wow me at first, but the molten glow of the polish is so pretty and the formula is a winner, so I can't stay 'meh' with it; you really only need one coat for complete coverage, that matches the shade in the bottle I do reccomend two coats though, as I've noticed better wear this way. It is so smooth to apply that it almost seems to apply itself, it hasn't streaked or pooled, it dries quickly, and it wears well. Use of a topcoat doesn't effect glossiness or wear time either way. If you don't already own a red pearl polish, then Vertical Rush is a good option. Amazon and some other retail sites still carry it.
