I've owned a lot of nail polish over the years, and probably a couple dozen just from Essie (it's probably the dominant brand in my collection right now), and this is the one polish that sticks out to me in a bad way. I bought it last year (2017, when it came out) and have held off on reviewing since then because I've been trying to figure out a way to make it work to hopefully be able to give it a more favorable review. Unfortunately, nothing I tried improved it.I *hate* this polish. I don't know what went wrong, but the formula is not what I expect from Essie. It's simultaneously thick but weirdly runny (it gets all over my cuticles and the sides of my fingers, way worse than most of my other polishes) even if I'm not getting enough product on the brush to fully coat my nail, and it's so streaky. Even applied over white polish with 2-3 coats of this stuff, there's often patches where the polish just doesn't cover my nail. It's bizarre and frustrating. It's also very difficult to apply a truly thin coat. If I do that, the polish just kind of starts drying or something in patches, which makes the streaking way worse. But applying slightly thicker coats also doesn't help the streaking, and just makes it even messier. It also does something weird with more than one coat, and I don't think I've ever seen another nail polish do this (but I think I've seen other reviews online that mention it). It gets kind bumpy in places, not really like bubbles, but like it pilling or something. (If you've ever used a thick facial sunscreen and then applied makeup over it and gotten little beads roll out from the sunscreen, it's kind of like that.)I've also noticed this particular color has about a third of the wear-time I get from other Essie polishes before it starts chipping, and that's at best. With normal wear, when I'm not babying my nails, I can't even make it through 8 hours before this starts chipping around the sides and tips. The only thing I actually like about this is the color. It's a kind of bright (but not neon-bright), beautiful creamy...something...shade. I'm not sure if I would call this a peachy shade, or a melon shade, or a salmon-y shade. It was exactly the color I wanted, but it's almost impossible to get it to uniformly cover my nails. I'm just glad this wasn't my first Essie polish because if it had been, I would never buy another one if I only had this to judge their quality by.I'm used to Essie not being the longest wearing brand, and sometimes needing 3 coats, but this is ridiculous.
