I've always thought this one had a misleading name, Essie's Red Nouveau looks very orange on me. Reddish-orange, but orange just the same. Dries to a shiny, creamy finish and it's so classic-looking. Perfect for year-round wear.Excellent formula. Opaque in two coats and no problems with application or wear.Would buy this one again.

I love this polish. It's a bright red with orange undertones. It goes on very smoothly, spreads easily, and delivers thin coats, and I'm not the best at polishing my own nails! But I have no problems controlling this polish. And even though I don't often wear a base coat, this polish LASTS a long time on me. I haven't had the chipping problems other reviewers have had, and I do use my hands a lot for work (typing and cooking). I've had trouble with other Essie polishes before (hello Turquoise and Caicos), but this formulation is awesome. The only gripe is that it dries a little bit matte on me (hence the 4 lippies). But to make it glossy, just use a top coat.

As with the other reviewer before me, this was my first Essie purchase, and I'm sorry to say, will be my last.I had high expectations of Essie products, having heard such good things about them. I bought Essie to try a new brand. The colour does however lovely and looks gorgeous on. It is easy to apply and dries ultra quickly.The down side is, it chips. Very quickly. Within a day my nails start to look worn. I can't live with chipped nails so it means I'd have to reapply every day. It chips in large chunks too. Not a good product and will not be repurchasing any of the Essie Product Line.Will be sticking with OPI.

This is the only Essie polish I've tried so far that I actually like! It's not a super unique or special colour but it gets the job done. This is a medium red that leans a little more towards the orange side than blue-red but not in an alarming way. The formulation is more pigmented, less streaky, and less goopey than any other Essie nail polish I've tried. One coat and I have a nice semi-sheer red manicure, two coats and it's solidly opaque.However, it chips, and I mean bad, within two days. I don't do a lot of manual labour and all the other Essie nail polishes I've tried do this to regardless of basecoat/topcoat. I'm of the opinion that Essie nail polish formulation just generally sucks. I feel that there are very similar nail polishes out there that last a lot longer for a similar price. So although I like this polish quite a bit I will not buy it again.

One more pinked-red from Essie's Late Summer 2004 "Some Like It Hot" Collection. Red Hot Mama is a vibrant medium blue-based pinky-red cream shade. To me, it's more on the hot pink side than hot red, but still incredibly beautiful all the same. And like all Essie nail polishes this one is long lasting, has a high shine finish, doesn't chip or streak.
