I have no clue why they named this polish Crimson.

I have no clue why they named this polish Crimson. It's not even remotely red, but rather, a very, very dark plum creme (unless there might be a breed of plum that's very dark but called a crimson plum?). This plum is so dark, in fact, that it looks black almost all of the time and in most lights. If you can get away with one coat, which I think may be do-able if you've got a steady hand and you're reasonably good with a brush, the plum character is visible in good light. Add a second coat, and you're right on into what is, for all intents and purposes, black. The polish is pretty enough, if you like super dark purples that look pretty much black. Formula is really nice, smooth application, excellent finish. I do have to admit, though, I don't really see the point of a plum THIS dark. Don't get me wrong, I love dark, vampy colours, even ones that usually look black except in certain lighting, but this is really, really dark, to the point of making me wonder why one wouldn't just use black to begin with. I got this as part of a China Glaze purple ombre set, and in that context, it's the darkest of the four colours in the set. I wouldn't have purchased this on its own. I have other dark purples that I enjoy more, mostly because while they are very dark, they do look purple at least some of the time. I've put this one in my "give away" box.

This is a beautiful blackened plum color.

This is a beautiful blackened plum color. I got it for 2 dollars on clearance at sally's and I'm really glad I picked it up. The formula is the perfect consistency, 2 coats gets it opaque. Overall it looks nice on the nails and I'd buy it again if I come across it on clearance. I wouldn't spend the full 7.50 on it because there are too many similar polishes out there.

As the reviewer below me has pointed out, CRIMSON was part of the 2011 Halloween collection.

As the reviewer below me has pointed out, CRIMSON was part of the 2011 Halloween collection. But as it is still easily found online at low prices I might as well add my 2 cents worth. First up this shade is not actually crimson it is a dark shade of eggplant, with a slight hint of red to it. The polish has a shiny creme finish. The pigmentation of the formula is good it's almost a one coater on me, but I need that second coat to get rid of a few pesky streaks. This is where it fell apart for me. Adding more then one coat turns the dark shade almost black, so the shade loses the red undertone, therefore it loses any uniqueness. The resulting shade isn't bad by any means, but I already have Avon Nailwear's Midnight Plum, and found the shades very similar. CRIMSON is also close to OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark. It's a shame that I can't get away with one coat; the formula is smooth to apply, and fast to dry. This polish can last me for up to four days before chipping. Since I use a self-powered wheelchair, I found this very impressive. I must also comment on the design of the bottle and lid. The shape is very easy to grip, meaning there's less smudging and spills. For the overall quality of the polish it is a bargain.

China Glazes crimson is from the 2011 Haunting Collection.

China Glazes crimson is from the 2011 Haunting Collection. Crimson is a misnomer because it's more of a deep burgandy/eggplant that is borderline black even in direct sunlight. Even though crimson is highly dupable the formula is one of the best. Many time deep dark polishes are difficult to apply for me but this one lent itself to 3 thin coats easily.

Beautiful color for fall.

Beautiful color for fall. Got this in the Halloween 2011 Haunting kit. Beautiful copper tone with lots of sheen. No sparkles. Great neutral color that reminds me of hennaed hair in the sun.
