Brand Highlight: Essie Gel Couture

Posted on July 08 2019

Essie is one of the leading and most beloved nail brands in the industry today. From the playful names to the wide variety of gorgeous shades available in lacquer & gel, Essie continues to stay on top of the latest industry trends. Today we’re going to talk about Essie Gel Couture. What is it? What makes it different from other Essie polishes? Let’s take a closer look!

Essie Gel Couture is a 2-step system of long-lasting polish colors and top coat that bring luxury to your fingertips. No LED or UV lamp required! Providing a luxurious gel-like shine and finish, this collection, inspired by haute couture fashion, is now available in over 100 shades!

How to Use the Essie Gel Couture System

Step 1: After cleansing the nails with nail polish remover, apply one layer of Essie Gel Couture nail polish in the shade of your choice (no base coat required!). Add an additional 1-2 coats for more saturated color.

Step 2: Apply the specially formulated, platinum grade finish Gel Couture Top Coat to your manicure. This seals in the color and provides an instant gel-like shine.

PRO TIP: Gel Couture is formulated as a system. It’s important to use the Gel Couture color and top coat together to achieve the best results.

To remove the Essie Gel Couture, use acetone! It’s THAT easy!

With Essie Gel Couture, you don’t have to be a professional to create a meaningful, long-lasting manicure. This streamlined process makes for the easiest way to get that salon look in the comfort of your own home.

I LOVE this polish! For years I had artificial nails. After I quit my job to be with my husband, who had had multiple health issues, I did not have a schedule that allowed me to get to the nail salon like I needed. I also wanted to save money due to our reduced income. I tried many polishes, none of which held up more than a few days. Then I tried the Essie brand. It worked much better. However, I still wanted an even longer lasting polish. I then tried Essie 2 step Gel polish. It is amazing!! Easy to apply, looks beautiful, and lasts 10 days for me. I have beautiful nails now with minimal time and cost. Thank you for creating a great product!

This might be silly, but am I supposed to let the gel color dry before putting on the top coat or apply while color is still wet?

  • Christina: November 26, 2021

    Hi Jessica!

If you are using gel polish, you would need to cure it under a LED/UV lamp first then apply a top coat then cure it under a lamp again. Email our customer service team at They love to help you out with any other questions. Have a nice day!

@Christina, if you need to use an LED/UV light for this nail polish, how come in the instructions above, there is not mention of it. If this site is going to provide instructions for the nail polish, it should provide the full set of instructions.

    Hi Torie,

Essie Gel Couture Polish does not require a LED/UV lamp ( the blog does state this ), but an Essie Gel does. 😊 Let me know if you have any other questions or you can email our customer service team – Thanks for stopping by to read our blog. Have a nice day!
