This matte lip cream goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. It is formulated to last you all day and keep your lips moisturized.
I bought this because judging from other people's swatches, I thought it would be a nice soft, nude pink, but it ended up looking fluorescently yet still pastelly cool-coral on me. Eeek! It looks nicer on other people, but on me it was very, very cool toned and too "bright" against my skintone. Weird. I think it's because the skintones of all the people who've swatched it (that I have seen) have been on the more neutral side of warm or maybe more cool toned, whereas my skin is more aggressively yellowish, with some kind of slight greeny olive undertone that makes it hard to pin down exactly... Istanbul made me look quite ill. It's confusing because others here who claim to be warm say this color looks great on them, but I'm definitely warm (even neutral foundations look too pink on me) and it looks frightening. I blame my mysterious oliveness.Anyway, so obviously the color was a fail. But I did like the formula of this product. It felt very soft, smelled like real cupcakes, and was *almost* completely transfer proof. There was very slight transfer. I don't remember it applying very well over itself for touch-ups though, and after wearing it for about 8 hours it became a bit crumbly. But if you're just going to a quick event, hanging out, seeing a movie, dinner with granny, whatever, this is really nice because there are so many great color options and it's very comfortable to wear, not at all drying like most mattes. I'd like to try again with a different color someday.
One of the most perfect soft pinks I have had. It suits my (medium/warm) complexion perfectly. The other pinks and pale colours that NYX has look clownish or too ashy or cool on me. This one is so well balanced. Pigmented, covers up my naturally red lips nicely without looking bad. Looks soft-not shiny but not dead and dry. It is not the ugly overdone type of matte lips everyone is wearing nowadays (i HAtE that look!!) Very pretty and doesn't sit on top in an ugly layer sinks in nicely and wears well. I don't find it patchy nor drying. I would repurchase and plan to get backups.
Yikes. Lately I've been loving and hence purchasing several different NYX products but this one was a total fail. After reading good reviews of this lipstick in another color (a red), I decided on Istanbul because I do not need yet another red.First off, color appears nothing like the soft pink/peach band on the tube. It is a bright cool hot pink. Ok I guess if that is fine if that is what you are after.. however.. this comes out of the tube on the little doe stick very clumpy. Accordingly, applies patchy. It stays moist long enough to work with, I'll give it that. Then after a half hour I had no choice but to scrub it off as it dried out my lips worse than any other product ever. Not sure if this is a bad shade and the others are good, but I tossed this immediately. Bye bye $6.00, not the end of the world but I would never purchase from their soft matte line again.
Honestly I was looking for a lighter pink shade, I don't know is it because of the natural colour of my lips or my fairness but these lip cream shades come off as really strong when I put them on.Nonetheless, it's a beautiful medium pink shade, applies beautifully and lasts hours, even after drinking and eating. Doesn't dry my lips horrendously.
I love this lip cream -it's a tiny bit drying, like a lot of matte lip creams, but the color is a beautiful light pink that really brightens up any overall look. I tend to wear it as an everyday lip color or paired with a little bit heavier eye makeup. It's a good pinky neutral.
