Black Magic Mountain is a discontinued color. But if anyone likes vampy polish, should try to get hold of this one. This is a very darkened, blackened deep red plummish color. Under indoor lightings, it looks brown but under sunlights, the color is deep plum with nice shimmer. A similar color we can get nowadays is William Tells Me About OPI from the Swiss Collection. The application is easy. It takes two coats to make it opaque. But the 3rd one adds more depth to this color. The downside I find about it is it takes a long time to dry. Other than that, looks great. It's great on fingers and toes. But I tend to find this color looks nicer on medium warm skin tone than very cool light skin tone or very dark skin tone. Just a personal opinion. But if you are s vampy polish fans, go and get this one.
I was lucky enough to score a couple bottles of this one day out and about scouring nail salons .. and I can honestly say .. this is the one color that almost gives me heart palpitations when I wear it. BMM is a deep dark sultry red//burgundy with a slight shimmer and with 2-3 coats .. is vampy and rich, withouth being SO dark is looks black like LPAD or LPAM are on me. This polish just makes me feel ultra sophisticated when I wear it. I'm thrilled to have it in my stash, and it's one that come winter, I'm all over! Looks striking on toes or tips, and is absolutely one of my faves! continued >>
I ran across a bottle quite by accident, but since everyone raved about it, I brought it home to see what all the fuss was about. On the nail, it's a blackened plum, very vampy, with very subtle silvery shimmer. Ordinarily, nothing I'd write home about. I've seen a couple shades like it, though nothing exactly the same. So after a three coat and TC application, I stare at it for a few minutes and just couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Oh well, I told myself. Clearly over-hyped.But then I realized as I was wearing it that throughout the day I'd look down at my nails and just start smiling. It's such an elegant color, so pretty, so absolutely perfect for all occasions. By the time I went to bed that night (some ten hours after I put it on), I was DEEPLY attached to this color. Deeply. I completely understood what makes people go nuts for it.Having thought about it, I think Black Magic Mountain IS just another vampy color... but it's kind of like the platonic ideal for vampy colors. This is the color to which all other vamps aspire, but don't quite manage to be. OPI set out to create the perfect vamp, and this is it. I've never had a polish color grow on me quite like this one did, but let me tell you, you'd have to pry my bottle out of my cold dead hands now. And if I ever manage to find another, you bet I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.
Bleh...what's all the GD fuss about? This is sooooo WAY overhyped. I found this color to be totally average...nothing to go crazy over...and I wanna kick myself 50 times for paying 8x retail on ebay.It is a dark plum color I guess...kinda vampy....with a silver shimmer. Totally common. I just swapped mine away I prefer Chanel Vamp or similar which is way easier to find and is richer in color.Please. Don't go pay insane prices for this np. Not worth the agro.I wouldn't buy it again.
Note: I reviewed this quite idiotically a while back, so I'm re-doing it now! I must have been high or something then, because I only gave this a 4-rating. One of my all-time faves. What was I thinking?! O.oBlack Magic Mountain is the one polish I always get complimented on. It's a rich, blackened plum with subtle shimmer, and it always looks elegant. It's been a favourite of mine for 6+ years now, but unfortunately it has been discontinued and is quite hard-to-find. If you're lucky enough to come across it, do pick it up!Pics:Nails continued >>
