China Glaze - Yellow Polka Dot Bikini 0.5 oz - #80948

Yellow Polka Dot Bikini is the colour of a tennis ball; a neon yellow with a teensy hint of green, that dries to a satiny finish. I'm not a yellow lover, but this is so cheerful and happy that I couldnt resist it. Yellow Polka Dot Bikini is meant to be a dube for Orly Glowstick and is cheaper to buy, so that is another plus in it's favour.Out of China Glaze's huge neon polish range Yellow Polka Dot Bikini is one of the stand outs to me as you can get it opaque within 3 coats without too many streaks when you skip the white base, which is a problem I keep encountering with their older neon polishes that I've been trying. However this is still a neon that really does benefit from being layered over a white base; whilst the shade is bright within three coats when worn alone, using two coats over a white base will give you the true neon shade that you see in the bottle without any streaks. The polish is smooth and bubble free to apply, and dries extremely quickly; within one minute.I can't really complain about my slight problems with the formula; all neons work best over a white base, dry matte or satin, and are a bit tricky to work with, because of the intense colour pigments the formulas contain.

i bought this at ulta expecting a very vibrant colour with a glossy finish however that is NOT what i got from this polish. The packaging: Starting from the top what attracted me to this polish was the color. looking at the bottle you see a vibrant yellow such a gorgeous colour in my opinion The Price: At my local Ulta Yellow polka dot bikini was running at $7.00+ however i got a deal 2 for 10. im now going to apply the polish for the first timeThe polish itself: Coat #1 : it looks shear, streaky, and matte Coat #2: still see through, spotty ( looks better in some places than others) Coat #3: starting to fill in more, still streaky. going to need another coat Coat #4: im stopping here. still not what I want you could keep going with coats but i honestly don't think its going to get better. um, its still see through. Pros: it drys somewhat quick. don't recommend unless you have enough patients to sit and apply coat after coat after coat. Cons: Streaky Needs 4+ coats NEEDS top coat or its dull (matte)

I can't stress this enough: you MUST apply no less than 4 coats and use Sally Hansen's Instant Dry Top Coat (red bottle) you will not be disappointed. The formula is thinner than I expected and it looks terrible during the first 2/3 coats but once you hit #4, it's beauitful. Neon colors are funky to apply, that's just the way it is. Not sure about staying power, I type a lot but I adore this color.

I LOVE this colour. I agree that the polish is very fluid and needs to be applied properly. I found that by putting a lot of polish on the brush and dripping it onto the nail allows the polish to spread itself without streaks, then lightly using the brush to spread the polish evenly. I only needed 3 coats for the full effect of neon yellow nails (they are glowing I swear). Love it!
