This is a great way to do dip powder nails at home.

This is a great way to do dip powder nails at home. I have had 4 dip powder (SNS) manicures in the past 2 months, but it is very expensive in my area (almost $50 each time). This kit was close to the same price so I decided I had nothing to lose by trying it out. I ordered it from the Revel Nails website.Dip Powder is basically putting a coat of super glue on your nail followed by dipping the nail in colored powder while it is still wet. You do that 2 or 3 times per nail, then follow it with an activator to help the glue set. File and buff your nails so they are smooth, rinse your hands in water, put on another coat of activator followed by a gel top coat. Nails are dry within 5 minutes and hard as rocks. When I removed my last manicure my nails were back to their original, weak, peeling state. When that happens I can't stop picking at them and my cuticlesand they looked terrible. I had tried gel manicures on my own in the past but wasn't satisfied with the staying power (they tend to just peel off on me), and didn't like keeping my fingers under the light for fear of skin damage. So dip powder has been the perfect solution for me.I was nervous about trying this at home because there are a lot of steps to doing this right, and I don't own a drill to file my nails down. But if you go slowly and pay attention to what you are doing, this is very easy. I got the same hard shiny results that I got at the salon. The only additional tools I needed were buffing blocks and a nail file. I got the blocks at Sally Beauty Supplya white one for acrylics and a yellow one that just says "Fine" grit. They buffed the powder surface down quickly and easilyno drill required.Removing dip powder is the same process as a gel manicure. You rough up the nail surface with a file and then soak them in acetone until the glue dissolves. In the case of dip powder it gets gooey instead of just flaking off like gel. You can gently use a rough nail file to help remove it.So far I am very impressed. I will update as needed if my opinion of this product changes, but right now I am VERY happy with the results of this manicure. Follow the directions, and find some youtube tutorials about how to do this so you know what to expect. If you can paint your nails reasonably neatly, you can do your own dip powder manicure.
