Award season is in full swing, but February 24th is cinema’s biggest night...the Oscars. There were a lot of great films released last year, so we want to congratulate all the films that were nominated. To celebrate film’s biggest night, we decided it would be fun to create color palettes for some of the nominees. Create your own red carpet looks inspired by your favorite films from 2018.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Nominated for five Oscars including Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Best Film Editing, Bohemian Rhapsody follows a young Freddie Mercury as he seeks to fulfill his dream of becoming a famous singer, eventually leading to the rise of the band Queen.

If Beale Street Could Talk

Nominated for three Oscars including Best Actress in a Supporting Role and Best Music (Original Score), this film takes place in the 1970s, centering around a young couple, Tish and Fonny. Their romance is interrupted when Fonny is accused of sexual assault. Tish, who’s pregnant, remains unwavering in her devotion to Fonny and is supported by her family in her efforts to secure his freedom.

Black Panther

Nominated for seven Oscars including Best Picture, Best Costume Design, and Best Production Design, Black Panther follows the journey of Prince T’Challa when he returns to his African homeland of Wakanda following his father’s death. She allows her most trusted confidante, Lady Sarah, to act as the de facto ruler of Great Britain during its war with France.

Mary Poppins Returns

Nominated for four Oscars including Best Music (Original Score), Best Music (Original) Song, and Best Costume Design, Mary Poppins Returns leaves viewers reminiscent of the beloved Disney classic. Michael Banks, now a widower with three children, and his sister Jane are astonished when their former nanny, Mary Poppins, suddenly returns one day. Aided by her lamplighter friend Jack, the still-magical Mary teaches the younger Banks children how to use their imaginations while also helping Michael and Jane tackle their grown-up problems.
